The Bloom string program offers instruction for both children and adults. Our instructors are all university trained and are all accomplished performers, playing in many diverse situations from orchestras to renowned DJ's.
Most teachers use a hybrid Suzuki method, combining the Suzuki teaching, literature and tone production with note reading. Every lesson is augmented by our LessonMate.org system which documents each lesson’s material online for easy recall at home during the week.
We recommend starting a stringed instrument no earlier than 6. It's important not to start too early- it can frustrate the budding musician as well as lead to quitting early.. We want musicians for a lifetime! For those students interested in violin that are 5 or just turning 6, Bloom offers the Music Fundamentals "Pick an Instrument" class. This class will provide an intro to the violin (keyboard and ukulele) as well as allow the child to learn some fundamental musical concepts that will help make private instrument study positive and exciting. If a student has already had this class and is 5 years old and really chomping at the bit to start lessons, we recommend trying to wait at least till spring of their Kindergarten year.
Bloom also offers plenty of performance opportunities - Spring Recital, Family Music Night, Composition Recital - to inspire and motivate the young musician. Playing in groups is fun too!
For students wanting more experience playing music with others, we offer String Ensemble. Intermediate to Advanced students are invited to join Rock Band upon recommendation from their instructor.
